Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 July 2026

These terms are published for information and review. They should be confirmed by a legal professional before being relied on as final consumer terms.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to courier and transport services provided by OBTA Logistics Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales (Company No: 17109107, VAT No: 519 5824 64), registered office at Lytchett House, 13 Freeland Park, Wareham Road, Poole, Dorset, BH16 6FA. By requesting a quote or booking a job you accept these terms. We may update them from time to time; the version published on this page applies at the time of your booking.

2. Quotes and quote validity

  • All quotes are provided in writing and are fixed for the job described — we do not charge per mile.
  • A local minimum charge of £90 plus VAT applies to jobs we accept.
  • Quotes are based on the collection and delivery postcodes, item details and access notes you provide. If the job differs materially from what was quoted, we will agree any change with you before proceeding.
  • Quotes are valid for 7 days from issue unless stated otherwise.

3. Booking confirmation and payment timing

  • A booking is confirmed only when we have accepted your request in writing and you have agreed the quoted price. A quote alone is not a confirmed booking.
  • Payment terms are confirmed on your invoice. New private, ad hoc and new business customers are required to make full cleared payment before dispatch for initial work. No automatic 30-day credit is offered to new customers. Account credit is available only after at least three successfully paid jobs, acceptable customer verification, proven route profitability, agreed written payment terms and a clean payment history — starting at 7 or 14 days, not 30 days, unless a valuable customer justifies the cash exposure.
  • VAT is charged at the prevailing rate on all UK services.
  • Additional charges that arise during a job (for example waiting time or additional stops) are confirmed with you and shown on your invoice.

4. Cancellations

If you need to cancel, please tell us as soon as possible. A cancellation made before a driver has been dispatched will not be charged. Where a driver has already been dispatched or has arrived for collection, a charge may apply to cover the committed journey, and we will confirm this with you at the time. Full detail is set out on our Cancellation and Failed Collection page.

5. Failed collection and unavailable recipient

  • If collection cannot be completed because no one is available, access is not possible, or the goods are not ready, the job may be treated as a failed collection and a charge may apply.
  • If delivery cannot be completed because the recipient is unavailable or access is not possible, the goods may be returned or held, and a re-delivery or storage charge may apply.
  • We will contact you and agree the next step before incurring additional cost where it is safe and practical to do so.
  • Full detail is set out on our Cancellation and Failed Collection page.

6. Inaccurate or incomplete item information

Quotes and vehicle suitability depend on the item details, weight, dimensions, value and access notes you provide. If the goods or circumstances differ materially from what was described at quotation — for example a heavier item, restricted access, or additional handling needs — we will pause and agree any revised price or arrangement before proceeding. Where misrepresentation is material we may decline or terminate the job, and any costs already incurred may be chargeable.

7. Loading and access

  • You are responsible for ensuring reasonable access and parking at both collection and delivery, including any permits or access fobs required.
  • Heavy, oversized or two-person items must be disclosed before quotation, and suitable assistance may be required at collection and delivery.
  • Reasonable driver assistance may be available for suitable items, but OBTA is not a removals service; packing, dismantling and assembly are not included unless agreed in writing.
  • Where access or loading is not as described and causes delay, waiting time or additional cost may apply.

8. Packaging responsibility

Goods must be adequately packaged for road transit. You are responsible for the suitability of packaging for your items, particularly fragile, sensitive or high-value goods. We are not liable for damage caused by inadequate packaging, and inadequately packaged goods may be refused. Misdeclaration of goods, value or handling requirements may void transit cover.

9. Waiting time and additional charges

A reasonable waiting allowance is included at collection and delivery. Waiting beyond that allowance, additional stops, route changes, tolls, congestion and parking charges may be chargeable and are confirmed with you. Full detail is set out on our Waiting and Additional Charges page.

10. Prohibited and restricted goods

We do not carry hazardous, illegal, inadequately packaged or undisclosed goods, and we reserve the right to decline or refuse to continue a job where goods are found to fall within these categories, are not as described, or would be unsafe, unlawful or uninsured to carry. The full list of prohibited and restricted goods, and those that require disclosure before quotation, is set out on our Prohibited and Restricted Goods page.

11. Liability limits

  • Courier insurance is in place, with Goods in Transit cover available up to £50,000 per vehicle, subject to policy terms, goods type, value and full job details.
  • You are responsible for declaring the nature and value of goods at the time of booking. Cover depends on accurate disclosure.
  • Our liability for any single job is limited to the goods-in-transit cover agreed for that job, or to the invoice value of the job, whichever is lower, except where liability cannot be limited by law.
  • We are not liable for loss or damage caused by inadequate packaging, misdeclaration, or inherent vice of the goods.

12. Proof of delivery

On completed deliveries we provide proof of delivery where reasonably available, which may include a signed or electronic confirmation and a timestamp. Tracking, where offered, is indicative and does not itself constitute proof of delivery. If you require a specific form of proof of delivery, please confirm this before booking so we can accommodate it where possible.

13. Complaints

We aim to resolve concerns promptly and fairly. If you have a complaint about a job or our service, please contact us as soon as possible using the details below, including your enquiry reference and the facts of the matter. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within a reasonable time. Where a complaint cannot be resolved directly, you may have alternative dispute resolution rights; we will advise you of the relevant route on request.
